Dubai, as seen by the RAF Photographer During 1970/71

Dubai
Dubai has changed somewhat since Robert Herriott, one time RAF photographer, took these photos.
You will note time has not been good to some of them!
It is possible one or two of these pictures may belong to the Bahrain pictures, but they all look the same to me!

Desert Trip: RAF Sharjah through Muscat 1971

In spite of the terribly hard workload, our hero's managed to take a 'Desert Trip,'  This sadly was not on camels as in days of old but in the less reliable Land Rovers!   Here are the pictures, adjusted as well as I can, of the 'Sharjah, Muscat Peninsula.'

Apologies for quality.  Some photos are wearing out,
scanning was difficult with others.

An RAF Man, always ready for action.

M1 Café, somewhere in Muscat

Waterlogged in the desert!
You can always trust an RAF mechanic!

Sadly, no names affixed.

RAF Sharjah 1970/1971

My late brother, 'Bob' Herriott spent some time in the RAF including a year or two in the Middle East as a photographer with the at RAF Sharjah.  While this may be some 50 years ago I thought it possible some who served there at that time may still be available to look at his photographs that have come to me.
Some have become a little warped over time, one or two when scanned in also.  However, for the ones interested I hope there are sufficient pages that rekindle good memories.  Bob always spoke well of the people he met there.  Contact me direct via Cup751@Googlemail.com.

Some random photos.

Bahrain Trip 1970/1971 by RAF Photographer from RAF Sharjah

Taking a break from securing the world, the gentlemen of RAF Sharjah took a trundle around the area, and I suspect not for the first time....
